CEO Jerry Stump prioritizes the firm’s safety culture with a strategic, credentialed hire.
Effective December 10, Austin Conrad joins Volkert as its director of safety. Among other duties, Conrad will establish safety standards and systems, analyze and communicate health and safety data, and be involved in all incident investigations.
Conrad brings 14 years of experience to Volkert, having served in senior safety roles with several companies, including Superior Construction, where he managed all health and safety for a division, and General Electric Aviation, where he managed a comprehensive EHS program for a large manufacturing facility. Conrad is a Certified Safety Professional, a Graduate Safety Practitioner, an OSHA 10 and 30 Instructor, and a Safety-Trained Construction Supervisor. He is also trained in CPR and first aid, automated external defibrillator application, and confined space rescue.
“Volkert has always had a safety culture, but we needed strategic leadership suited to our company’s growth and our priority on safety,” says COO David Allsbrook. “Austin provides that kind of leadership and direction for all our occupational safety and health initiatives and processes. We’re fortunate to find such a well-versed safety professional for this key role at Volkert.”
Conrad, a Kentucky native, earned his bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from Murray State University in Kentucky. He currently resides in Tennessee and works out of the firm’s Franklin office.
