Arlington National Cemetery

As the prime consultant, Volkert provided engineering and landscape architecture services and managed the work of the architectural subconsultant for a new visitors center and parking facility. Volkert’s services include 30 acres of site work and landscaping as well as circulation, access, and safety improvements.  In compliance with the Arlington National Cemetery Master Plan, the visitors center, parking facility, entrances, formal courtyards, and landscaping were designed in a neoclassical style and approved by the National Capital Planning Commission, the Commission of Fine Arts, and the Advisory Council of Historic Preservation.

The visitors center accommodates 25,000 visitors per day and the parking facility accommodates 600 cars and 40 buses.
