Volkert provided inspection of structural supports for a 48” sanitary sewer force main pipeline crossing of Eslava Creek, Dog River, and several streets for Mobile Area Water and Sewer System. Structures included the Eslava Creek crossing, Yeend Street crossing, Baker Street crossing, the Montlimar Creek crossing, and two areas of exposed pipe near the Jenkins Brick Company and Brookley Field.
Volkert’s certified bridge inspectors conducted a field investigation of the support structure for the 48” diameter sanitary sewer force main line over water crossings and reported findings according to National Bridge Inspection Standards.
Inspections included a hands-on inspection of the frame supports and pipeline , an underwater inspection of the support piles, and a rating of the condition of each applicable element (superstructure and substructure) for each structure. In addition, Volkert completed underwater inspections on all substructure elements and to verify coverage over a submerged pipe cross across Montlimar Creek. Inspections were performed in accordance with OSHA inspection and diving guidelines. Any elements with deficiencies were noted, and any elements with repair recommendations were photographed and/or sketched.
