To improve safety and mobility for the traveling public at a high-volume intersection, the Mississippi Department of Transportation is constructing a completely redesigned interchange at the junction of I-110 and Sangani Boulevard in D’Iberville, Mississippi. The Department has selected Volkert to provide the engineering services for the project.
The Sangani Boulevard Interchange over I-110 project consists of developing Phase A & B plans. Volkert provided the preliminary ROW plans to MDOT and the designs and information gathered in the development of the preliminary ROW plans were used in the preparation of the Phase B construction plans, that included a 90% roadway design, signal plans and 60% bridge design submittal. Volkert’s knowledge of the traffic patterns, drainage system, ROW requirements, bridge requirements and physical constraints strengthened our construction plan development effort.
The bridge design consists of a four-span, 290-foot continuous deck bridge consisting of four lanes plus a sidewalk. The bridge was designed using the latest AASHTO LRFD design standards in a vertical curve with seven percent grade.
With completion of Phase A and B plans, Volkert provided Phase C, Construction Engineering Services.
Scope of Work: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Preliminary Design, Roadway Design, Bridge Design, Traffic Management, Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI)
