When Nick Rose, PE, joined Volkert in 2018 as an Engineering Intern, he was still finding his footing in the field. Eight years later, he’s trusted to lead some of Alabama’s most significant infrastructure projects—and he’s been named a 2026 Alabama AGC 40 Under 40 honoree for it.
The award, presented annually by the Alabama Associated General Contractors and Business Alabama, recognizes the state’s rising leaders in construction and engineering.
From intern to trusted engineer of record
Nick graduated from Auburn University in 2018 with a degree in Civil Engineering and came straight to Volkert. He earned his PE license in 2022 and stepped into a Project Manager role soon after.
“I trust Nick with projects that I wouldn’t have trusted most engineers with at that stage of their careers, and he earns more of that trust every day,” said Harold Eubanks, PE, Regional Vice President, who nominated Nick for the honor.
Leading the region’s biggest builds
Today, Nick serves as a Project Manager for various engineering design and construction efforts across the Alabama Coast. His project list includes the new Mobile International Airport Terminal (BFM), the Airbus Central Distribution Center, the Novelis Megasite access roads, and multiple roadway projects across the state. His clients include ALDOT, MAA, Airbus, Austal, Baldwin County and various local municipalities.
Mentoring the next generation
Nick regularly brings younger engineers on site visits so they can see firsthand how plans become finished infrastructure. He’s an active member of ASCE’s Mobile Branch and ASHE, and has volunteered as a panelist for engineering students at the University of South Alabama. In 2024, he was also named Young Engineer of the Year by the Mobile Area Council of Engineers.

A Mobile native, through and through
Nick grew up in Mobile and attended McGill-Toolen Catholic High School before heading to Auburn. He lives in Mobile with his wife, Jordan, their daughter, Sophia, and son, Henry, and spends his time outside the office on the golf course or traveling with his family.
